August Club News 2016July was a wonderful month to be a CTC member! The USTA Father & Son Clay Court Championship was a smashing success with Team Westbrook defeating Team Hoffman in a thrilling Sunday final.

Carsten and Bjorn Hoffman played fantastic tennis all week and made Michael and Alex Westbrook work hard to become the 2016 champions. The tennis was outstanding from all of the players all week and it was great to see a regional team bring home the championship! As the Westbrook’s currently reside in Louisville, KY.

The Father & Son Championship is an opportunity for CTC to shine while bringing great tennis to Cincinnati. Enough cannot be said about the leadership and hard work Jay and Marilyn Richey have provided to the event. This is evidenced by the success of this year’s event. Their dynamic personalities and dedication to the event have served as an inspiration to our volunteers and staff.

In addition to Jay and Marilyn, the event could not happen without the hard work of our tournament board members, tournament volunteers, and CTC staff. The Father/Son board and volunteers worked endless hours planning and staffing the event to ensure that every attendee had a positive experience. From the food choices for both attendees and participants to the players’ housing, gift bags and prizes, no detail was overlooked. The CTC staff also needs to be commended for their hard work in the weeks leading up to the tournament and during the tournament weekend. Each staff member worked long hours to make sure our courts and facilities were in tip top shape. In addition, the staff went above and beyond during the tournament to make sure participants and guests were greeted with a kind smile, an offer of help if needed, and of course keeping the courts and facilities in the best shape possible. I am very proud of and appreciative of Jay and Marilyn Richey, the board, tournament volunteers, and CTC staff. Their hard work and dedication allowed CTC to shine!

Great things are also happening in house at CTC. We are thrilled about the enthusiasm which has been generated for our men's and women's internal leagues. The excitement has been through the roof! Serious matches are happening every week on our courts. If you are not currently a part of a league, consider seeing what all the excitement is about before the season ends.

My thanks and appreciation is extended to all of our members. Each of you make CTC a positive and enjoyable place to spend the season. See you on the courts!
